Abstract
Purpose: Purpose of this study was to identity the effects of a video education program developed for hemodialysis patients on their self-care, stress and physiological indices.

Methods: The participants of this study consisted of 58 hemodialysis patients at three times per a week at C hospital in Gwangju from June to September, 2013. The repeated 40-minute video education program for 10 weeks was addressed to the participants. structured qestionnaire to measure self-care and stress level, and in terms of phy- siological indices, a trained research assistant collected the data from medical records.

Results: There are differences on the serum potassium level (t=3.82, p=.001) and serum phosphorus level (t=2.33, p=.004) and hemodialysis appropriateness (t=-3.51, p=.002) of physical indexes between pre and post intervention. In other hands, there are no differences on the self care, stress and body weight increase between pre and post intervention.

Conclusion: Based on the results, the video education program for hemodialysis patients might be helpful to their physiological indices. Further studies are needed to improve the video education program for a bi-directional self-care and stress control program.
